Good Times

Well, Damsel and Jet are coming home today from being away for 4 days on a trip to see Damsels’ sister beesknees.  I cant wat for her and Jet to be home.  I know they had fun on their trip but are ready to come home to.  My sister is and Dad and Neice are crashing here for a few days in Limbo from selling their house in South Austin and Moving to Houston where My Bro-In-Law got a new job and has been working there for a few months already.

Anyway it has been pretty hectic around here, I have been working a lot and haven’t been here much.  But stil have spent more time with my sister than I have in a while.  Its cool, since she is moving soon I wont see her every other week which has been the norm for the last 4 years, so I am glad to spend some time with them before they move.  I am working out to lose a little wait to go into the Army in Sept.  I went down to the MEPS a few weeks ago but was told I was still a little to much man for them.  Anyway I got a little extra time to spend with the family before I go to Basic.  However that does mean I will still be in AIT (Advanced Individual Training), when the time for the new baby to come in January.  Hopefully I can get a little leave around that time.

Well that about as up-to-date as I can think to make my first post in 4 months.  So TA-TA  wrotet more another time.

Back to work.

If you didn’t know, I have been working in S Austin at my Sisters, for the last month, ‘remodeling’ her house preparing to sell it.  It has been a tough row to hoe since I have been driving down there every day, or spending the night.  Haven’t seen Damsel or Jet very much in the last month.  And now I go from one extreme to another.

I started my new job this past Monday.  I am now one of the Bartenders at the brand new local Bowling Center.  I also am helping the owners out with some IT issues so I can keep me Resume current with IT experience.  Bar tending isn’t so bad.  You meet lots of people, which I am good at:  It is a great networking opportunity.  But now i am working night about 5 nights a week, so I still won’t see them very often.

It work is hard to find right now.  I was working for a roofing company as a salesman but the bottom fell out and now the company is all but folded.  It wouldn’t have bothered me too much except that I passed up on a job a good Data Hosting company for it.  Story of my life, I keep trying to find the next “opportunity” and pass on a sure job with benefits and all.  Well now i gotta take what I can get because so many IT companies have laid-off so many people that IT jobs are hard to come by.    There are a few that I have my resume in for, but I have to work tending bar until I can find a ‘real’ job.

Damsel, has been the best wife in the world during all this too.  She has supported me, and encouraged me.  I could not make it through if it wasn’t for her.

So the post is realy to her, to say Thank You for being there for me, when I am gone all the time.  I love you more than I can ever express.  But I will never stop trying.

Te Quiero, Con todo mi corazon.

Back to normal?…not yet

In case you haven’t read Damsels’ post I have been working on my sisters house for the last 3 weeks.  She is selling her place and moving to Houston where her hubby has gotten a really good job.

Anyway, It has been rather hectic around here.  I have been staying at my sisters 35 miles away half the time for the last two weeks.  When I do make it back it is usually late and only shower sleep and get up and go again.

Well, Now I am still not done and Damsel is gone for almost a week on a trip to DC.  So I am now a single Dad for a little while.  I don’t mind it so much.  I really like the time I get to spend with Jet, and we do a little male bonding i.e. Watch sports and eat pizza, stay up late, sleep in, and scratch where we want, when we want.

Ok, not all of that is totally accurate.

ok, I gotta go, Jet needs attention, so much to the point that he is playing with the mouse while I try to type, and I have written this sentence four times.

Don’t laugh, It ain’t funny

What exactly is a meme?

You know, I never have liked these introspective things.  I mean, If we were truely honest, no one would want to read them.  But this one is different.  It is “UN” important things.

So here goes.

1. I took karate for 5 years.  I know how to break a board and a brick.

2. My first job lasted 3 months.  Wal-Mart sucks.

3. I don’t really like game shows.  Quiz Shows I like.

4. I used to surf

5. I can still recite the firing order of a small block chevy V8.  18436572

6. I can figure tip amounts in my head.

I dont really have many readers so.  I am not tagging anyone.

Opening Day!!!

Well, Baseball season is here again.

Time for grand times at the ballpark. 5 dollar beers and 4 dollar hotdogs. Nothing like it.

I love baseball. Grew up watching the Astros. Went to a few games in the Dome that I will never forget. I even had to admit to Damsel that Baseball was my first love. She was none too happy but i think she has comes to grips with it. The plus side for her is that I will happily fold all the laundry she can place in front of me for four hours every Saturday or Sunday, and I will fold it so far as I do not have to get up for more than trips to the fridge or bathroom. She gets folded Laundry, and I get to watch the game, pretty much uninterrupted.

Right now its the bottom of the 3rd and Astros are down 1-0 against the San Diego Padres. A good friend of mine will call to gloat if his Padres win. Of course I will call him if it goes the other way.

I like baseball, but I was never very good at it. As I am not very good at many sports. Golf being one of them. I picked up golf about 3 or 4 years ago an played pretty often for the first 2 years. But in 4 years i have not improved much. that is to say; Not at all. So I have decided to “hang-up” the clubs and change sports. I play on a mens church league Softball team, which actually played tonight and I was not there due to a very sore back. no, I will take up Bowling.

“Take-up” being a loose term since I have bowled since I was about 17. A friend of mine in high school turned me on to the game and I liked it. It is a game that I noticed you didn’t have to be in “Olympian” shape to play. I got pretty good at it. I even worked in a bowling alley while going to college in Lubbock. Bowled on a league and did pretty well. My high game is a 264, which is not too far off some professional players high score. Different of 1 strike. Sometimes when friends or family try to suggest thing to do someone will say “bowling”. I say “sure, let me go home and get my ball”. all of the sudden they don’t want to go.

But lo and behold a “Bowling Center”, as they like to be called now, is opening in my town. In just a few weeks. And Yes, I got a job there. I little income supplement that is needed right now. But truth be told, I would work there even if i didn’t get paid.

SO, goodbye Golf, and probably RC planes, and almost every other hobby I had in the last 7 years.

Bottom of the 4th, score still 1-0 San Diego

(did i mention I have A.D.D.?)

My First Blog?

No not really. This is not my first blog. Being a web developer (part time) I have actually had several blogs. All of which met a terrible fate. Being erased and reincarnated into some other website.

OK, if you don’t know by now my true love has a blog. And I don’t know, maybe it was the fact that everybody reads hers, and never gets to here MY side of the story, not that there is anything different about my side of the story. Anyway, I thought I would put some thoughts down.

Several things are strange about this.

A) I have A.D.D. and if you don’t know what it’s like to have A.D.D. just imagine this. You are watching TV, your favorite show is on, you know the one. just as you are getting into your show something reminds that you like another show at the same time. So you switch channels. While watching that show you remember again, that another show is one too. so you start flipping between three different shows trying to keep up with all of them but never get all the details from any of them and never know whats going on when you go back. Now, add the fact that I have a 3 yr old. You see my dilemma.

2) I am not a very good writer. In fact, I used to hate writing until these new fangled computer things came around. I do not have very good penmanship, so I never wrote anything by hand unless I absolutely had to.

D) as stated in the first item. I have a 3 yr old (soon to be 4). Which my lovely bride Damsel writes about, rather prolifically. <– wasn’t sure that was even a word. So I wont really write about him too much, just comment on what she writes

I will not say I will do my best to keep writing here. I will not say I will keep up with anything going on on a consistent basis. I will say that now and then, there may be something I would like to get off my chest, or vent, or even revel about something. So don’t worry about adding me to your RSS Reader. Don’t bookmark me. Just maybe pop in every now and then. Maybe I will write something profound…but i doubt it.
